ZMA Elementary Education support staff

Position Summary
Are you a fun, organized, reliable, and enthusiastic individual with a passion for art, history, or elementary education? You and three others will gain invaluable hands-on teaching experience as you assist ZMA staff with its popular elementary school program, Exploring Ohio’s History through Art (EOHTA). Work with local 4th -grade students and instructors in the ZMA galleries. Lead engaging field trip activities and discussions as you explore social studies topics through artwork on view throughout the museum. Be an integral part of administering and evaluating this exciting program. Training on EOHTA provided.

Compensation
$12 an hour to be paid every two weeks

Key Responsibilities

  • Compiling EOHTA pre-assessment data

  • Leading groups of approximately 15 4th -grade students in EOHTA field trip tours and activities

  • Setting up and cleaning up before and after each field trip

  • Compiling EOHTA post-assessment data

  • Conducting teacher surveys and compiling data

  • Recommending changes to the program based on survey data and internship experience

Requirements
The ideal ZMA Intern candidate possesses:

  • The ability to work onsite at the ZMA during the hours listed below; to be punctual

  • The ability to work well with others; follows instructions well

  • Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with 4th-grade students and instructors

  • Previous instruction on classroom management a plus

  • Satisfactory completion of BCI background checks

Proposed Schedule

  • Part-time, approximately 3 hours a week on Fridays beginning now through March 29, 2024 in conjunction with 4th -grade field trips to the ZMA as part of the Exploring Ohio’s History though Art Curriculum

  • Approximately 70 hours total depending on start date

  • Schedule subject to change based on student field trips

Exploring Ohio’s History through Art is a 4th-grade art-integrated curriculum that provides multiple opportunities for local students to visit the ZMA throughout the school year along with in-class activities that use the ZMA’s permanent collection to reinforce core Ohio 4th-grade learning standards.
